Geissele is one of the most prominent names in the firearms industry. Renowned for their high-quality AR-15 rifles and parts, their products are often regarded as some of the best in the industry, and they’ve garnered a large following of both enthusiasts and professionals alike.
Over the years, Geissele has cemented its reputation as one of the industry’s top manufacturers. Despite being primarily recognized for their assortment of AR-15 products, their product range extends to nearly every aspect of rifles. Follow along as we break down what exactly has defined them as some seriously good weapon makers.

Who is Geissele?
Geissele Automatics, often referred to as just ‘Geissele’, was founded in 2004 by Bill Geissele. Initially, the company started out as an aftermarket AR-15 trigger manufacturer, with their first trigger—the Hi-Speed National Match Trigger—quickly becoming a popular trigger group.
In 2005, the performance of their trigger got the attention of the U.S. Military, and Geissele was later tasked with developing a select-fire trigger with similar performance. This trigger was designated as the SSF (Super Select Fire) trigger, adopted by USSOCOM, and then later adapted even further to suit the civilian market. Becoming the SSA (Super Semi-Automatic) trigger, it’s still one of the most popular trigger groups produced by Geissele.
As the company’s success grew, their product line began to expand as well. Today, they continue to produce AR-15 components and now produce parts and components for other rifles like the AR-10 and AKM (Under their ALG Defense sub-brand), as well as mounts and for rifle scopes and reflex sights.
Where is Geissele Located?
Geissele Automatics is based out of North Wales, Pennsylvania, where the majority of their products are produced in-house. Their local production allows them to meticulously and routinely check the quality and manufacturing processes of each part. Each product they offer undergoes rigorous testing and multiple quality control checks before it’s sent out to ensure consistent performance across all products.

Geissele Triggers
Geissele trigger assemblies are some of the most sought-after aftermarket trigger options available. They have a wide range of options to choose from, with each trigger being tailored for specific applications. Their triggers can either come with flat or curved trigger facings/bows, and adjustable pull weights with specialized springs for different applications. So, whether you prefer a quick single-stage trigger for enhanced agility, or a precision crafted two-stage trigger for long range precision, Geissele has you covered.
As we mentioned before, their SSA trigger is one of the most popular trigger assemblies they offer. It’s a two-stage trigger with a 3-pound pull weight in the first stage and a 1.5-pound pull in the second. If you’re looking for a more premium option, the upgraded SSA-E or SSA-X triggers are the move. SSA-E triggers have a lower trigger pull weight and SSA-X triggers come with a specialized chrome coating for better reliability as well as a smoother trigger pull. There’s even an additional option that blends both features known as the SSA-E X, which is easily the most premium SSA trigger option.
There’s a lot to unpack when discussing Geissele’s different trigger options, but our Geissele Trigger Guide provides a more in-depth breakdown into the specs of some of their most popular trigger options.

Geissele Rifles
AR-15s
Geissele’s rifle lineup shows off their advanced AR-15 manufacturing techniques, exemplifying their dedication to quality.
The Geissele Super Duty MOD1 rifle comes in multiple configurations, with the core difference between them being the barrel length. Regardless of which one you look at it, they all feature similar components, most of which are made in-house, by Geissele. Each rifle comes equipped with a Geissele CHF and chrome-lined barrel, enhanced BCG, gas block, and an upgraded SSA-E X trigger. Additionally, they each come with B5 Systems furniture, as well as Geissele’s Super Modular Rail (SMR) MK16 handguard.
For those interested in long-range marksmanship, Geissele’s Freedom Rifle (GFR) is a solid pick. Chambered in 6mm ARC, it’s a standout option fit for a RECCE rifle or SPR build. Like the Super Duty MOD1, GFR rifles come kitted out with multiple enhanced components. Each model comes standard with a Geissele CHF and chrome-lined barrel, BCG, GFR-E trigger, and their MK16 Center Tab handguard, and Geissele’s own furniture. Being chambered in 6mm ARC, you can’t use standard 5.56 mags with these rifles, but Geissele produces dedicated 6mm ARC magazines for these rifles.
AR-10s
AR-10 rifles and parts are a fairly new addition to Geissele’s roster. They’ve recently introduced their new Mid-Range Gas Gun, or MRGG, to their rifle lineup.
Developed for USSOCOM’s MRGG Contract, it’s available in either 6.5 Creedmoor or 7.62 NATO, has a strengthened billet upper and lower receiver, ambidextrous controls, and comes standard with their enhanced Nanoweapon coated BCG for better resistance against corrosion and other environmental factors. It also features a 20-inch chrome lined barrel, Geissele’s easy on-off MK16 rail, and comes with their SSA-E trigger. This rifle is packed with features that make a serious contender for long-range applications.
Geissele Parts

Lower Parts
As far as receivers go, they’re currently offering stripped Super Duty lowers and receiver sets too. To go with these lowers, and those from other manufacturers, they offer a slew of upgraded lower parts—perfect for building new rifles or upgrading ones you already own.
There are two main lower parts kits that Geissele has in their lineup: the Ultra Duty and Standard kits. The most premium option is the Ultra Duty kit, coming with their upgraded checkered pivot pins and mag release, their Super Configurable ambidextrous safety, Maritime Bolt Catch, and their upgraded 5-Axis trigger guard. Their Standard Kit is an excellent choice too, coming with mil-spec components and a lower cost.
In addition to lower components, they also produce an assortment of buffer components. Their Super 42 Spring is a top choice designed to improve reliability and functionality. By using braided wire instead of a flat spring, the chance of it losing spring force is significantly reduced. Even further, they produce a plethora of different buffer weights that pair particularly with the Super 42 Spring.

Upper Parts
Whether you’re looking to upgrade your barrel and gas block, or if you just want a new charging handle for your AR-15, Geissele has you covered. They offer an incredible array of upper receiver components, with their charging handles, handguards, and BCGs being among the most popular.
Their Super Charging Handle (SCH) is by far the most popular one they offer. It’s an ambidextrous model that has extended latch wings for ease of use, and it has an enhanced rear lip to prevent excess gas from coming back to your face when shooting suppressed or over-gassed rifles.
Geissele also has an assortment of handguards to choose from as well. Among their options, their MK8, MK14, and MK16 Super Modular Handguards are their most popular options. All three have full length M-LOK slots and continuous upper picatinny rails. The MK8 is slimmer than either the MK14 or the MK16. Although similar, the biggest difference between the MK14 and MK16 is their M-LOK placement. The MK16 has M-LOK slots on all sides of the handguard including the 45-degree angles, while the MK14 has lightning cuts on the 45-degree angles.
We’ve mentioned their BCGs a few times already, but they’re a seriously good option for all ARs. Geissele’s Reliability Enhanced Bolt Carrier Group is a full auto rated BCG that also comes with their Nanoweapon coating. Each BCG is stress-tested and comes outfitted with their Stressproof Bolt, so it’s durable enough to withstand everything from regular weekend range trips to high-intensity training in adverse conditions.

Mounts
Another popular product in Geissele’s lineup is their optic mounts, as they offer a wide array of mounts for red dot sights and rifle scopes alike.
Their Super Precision Mounts are available in multiple configurations, accounting for different mount heights and optic compatibility. Each one is machined from a single billet of 7075-T6 aluminum, which is known for its high-strength and light weight, and the included hardware allows your optic to be secured with up to 1,400 pounds of clamping force. This along with the three included shear lugs provide incredible strength, ensuring your optic stays zeroed during use.
They also offer their share of magnified optic mounts as well. Their Super Precision Scope Mounts are offered in multiple sizes to accommodate different sized optics, including Trijicon ACOG Models too. Designed specifically for the AR-15 scopes, they’re a solid choice for RECCE builds centered around LPVOs, and SPRs or DMRs that use larger 2.5-20x and similarly sized optics. Like their reflex sight mounts, each choice is machined from a single 7075-T6 aluminum billet. Geissele also makes added top caps for their scope mounts too that have a picatinny rail section for mounting offset optics like mini-reflex sights.
Tools
Geissele has a plethora of gunsmithing tools available that cater to the needs of both professional gunsmiths and everyday enthusiasts alike. In fact, they have enough tools available to build your own Geissele tool kit.
Tools like their AR-15 Reaction Rod make the install process of muzzle devices, barrels, and even handguards much simpler. To use it, all you need to do is clamp it in a bench vise and slide your upper receiver over it. Doing so locks it into place, preventing it from moving, giving you the best setup possible for upper parts installation. Aside from this, they have a plethora of punches, roll pins, AR tools, and suppressor alignment rods too, making them a top-tier choice for both professional and at-home builders
Conclusion
Geissele Automatics has earned its place as one of the most revered names in the industry. From their enhanced triggers assemblies and internal components to specialized rifle setups, their commitment to quality and ingenuity are clearly shown in each product they offer.
Whether you’re interested in buying a premium rifle that’s ready to go out of the box, or the parts needed to build your own, Geissele has what you need.
