This may be a completely idiotic question but do you need to have your dot and magnifier close to your eye to use it like a scope?
ReplyDeleteI ask because my dot is on a rail near the end of the barrel, not over the receiver.
Not a stupid question. If using this magnifier, the lens facing you can be no further than around 2.8 inches from your eye and needs to be about .5 inches behind the red dot. Most (not all) magnifiers in this price range are about 1.5 inches.
DeleteSo, more than likely, you will need to move your red dot back to the receiver.
Can you adjust windage and elevation to center the dot?
ReplyDeleteWill it clear Troy rear BUIS with the American Defense Swing Mount?
Yes it has an azimuth adjustment to center the red dot in the magnifier.
DeleteThe AD-SM-01 will clear a Troy rear BUIS easily (in fact our purchasing manager has that same combo on his AR).
I meant the AD-SM-02 in the same scenario, I had full co-witness in mind.
DeleteThe SM-02 is too low and will not clear your Troy BUIS.
DeleteThe eye relief is kind of hard to find for me. I fully extend my AR15 stock so when using the magnifier I either have to collapse the stock of move my head closer to the magnifier. The bigger lens cover is not a perfect fit and can move around. That being said It is very very clear glass with see through lens covers and a true 3x, not 2 1/2x.
ReplyDeleteI took the mag out to the range and I ruined bullseyes at 100 yards. I love it! thx PA for putting out great affordable magnifier.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it! We love range reports.
DeleteWhen are they expected back in stock with the new fts mount? I'm looking to purchase asap
ReplyDeleteWe will have them back in late August or September. The factory is making them now!
Deletecould this be coupled with a trijicon rx01 red dot, its center axis is 1.476" and i know with the flip mount the 3x center is 1.6, could it be adjusted enough to center it to the lower dot or would i need to space up the red dot?
ReplyDeleteWe don't have one here to test but it should work. You will need the American Defense SM-02 (you won't be able to run back up iron sights) and you will still have to adjust it down a bit. Again, it's not going to be perfect. Reflex sights sit so low, it is hard to get a good match up.
DeleteWhat is the difference between your 3X Long Relief and your 3X Deluxe? Does the 3X Long Relief have the same focus ring and Water proof & fog resistant (Nitrogen purged) as the Deluxe model? Finally which one would you recommend with my Colt LE6940 with EOTech 551?
ReplyDeleteThe eye relief on the 3XLER is significantly more at 2.8 inches. If you shoot nose to charging handle, the 3X Deluxe is fine, otherwise the 3XLER provides a lot more flexibility.
DeleteI just purchased the Primary Arms 3X Long Eye Relief Magnifier / ADM Mount Bundle for $199. I took it to the range and am very happy with this magnifier for the price. I have an EOTech 512.A65 and when shooting it for the first time with the magnifier I was impressed with the clarity of the eotech. Primary Arms hit a home run on this one. Best site out there for the great cost of 199 with the American Defence quick release mount.
